General Nutrition

An athlete’s nutrition is one of the most important aspects of the muscle building process as well as a crucial component of the complete athletic performance.  An athlete’s knowledge and application of an effective nutrition will assist in the overall strength, endurance, mental focus, as well as improve the athlete’s overall adherence as they continue to elevate their level of competition.

Sports Nutrition

The requirements for sports nutrition can vary greatly depending on the sport, length of the activity, intensity level, training requirements, as well as energy system requirements.  As nutrition and athletics evolve together, the energy systems usage has become one of the biggest concerns.

Power Lifters vs. Marathon Runners, the known fact is they use two different energy sources Marathon Runners aerobic and Power Lifters anaerobic.

A diet consisting of about 55% to 60% carbohydrates (complex carbs as opposed to simple sugars), no more than 30% fats (mostly unsaturated plant fats), and about 10% to 15% protein is consistent with optimal performance. The body converts the energy in carbohydrate, fat, and, to a very small extent, protein to chemical energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP); which is the body's form of energy currency necessary for everything it does. When the three-phosphate form (ATP) is converted to the two-phosphate form (ADP), the reaction powers all processes in the body.  We must remember that only small amounts of ATP are stored in our body’s muscles; therefore, the body must constantly replenish ATP.
