Overview

CollegePrepWorld (“CPW”) was created to provide guidance, assistance and support to students and their families in their athletic and academic development.  In order to improve academic and athletic development, CPW’s Director of Student Athlete Development will meet with students and their families on a bi-weekly basis to develop an action plan.  The Student Athlete Development Program focuses on training students and their families to achieve academic success, set goals for their academic as well as personal futures, and identify a college that will best address their personal and professional needs.  CPW’s staff is fully prepared and committed to the overall development of the student-athlete to provide educational programs and service opportunities in areas such as academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, and service and career development.

CPW believes properly managed academics and athletics will help parents and students meet their goal of college attendance.  By supporting and educating students, families, teachers, coaches and others about academic requirements and policies that govern the NCAA, these individuals will make more informed decisions for the future.

It is critical that student athletes begin training their bodies correctly and adequately to be prepare them for the collegiate level and higher of the athletic career.  In order to become and remain successful, student athletes must be willing to engage in programs that distinguish them from others.

How does the program work?

This program assists athletes to compete at the highest level through personalized regimens that will be applied.

Goals and Objectives

The student-athlete, while playing and participating in high school or collegiate sports, will become a successful member of society upon completing his/her education at an accredited college/university.

The Role of CPW’s Speed & Conditioning Program

CPW and its team of trainers is committed to proving speed and conditioning training with emphasis on quickness, plyometric development, and advanced running fundamentals.  As these concepts are explained and demonstrated, the student-athletes will also receive more detailed instruction designed to assist in improving conditioning.  These concepts, to include but not limited to: Long Strides, VO2 max increases, Leg Strengthening techniques as well as an increase in Lactic Thresholds; which are to be subscribed to via CollegePrepWorld.com by sixth through twelfth grade students who desire to pursue athletics at the post-secondary school level.  All speed and conditioning procedures will encourage athletic improvement in the shadows of NCAA combine regulations as well as in-season and off-season NCAA athletic conditioning levels.

Objective of CPW’s Speed & Conditioning Program

CPW’s speed and conditioning program is designed to provide top notch aerobic/anaerobic workouts and activities designed to assist student-athletes in the overall physical improvement.  In addition to a stringent workout regimen, CPW’s program includes pre- and post-session testing for progress measurement predicated on an individualized program.  CPW’s understanding that each individual may respond differently to certain techniques is an important aspect in it’s ability to personalize program for each individual.

Athletic Combines

The CPW Speed & Strength staff, along with the POP WARNER LEAGUE, provides a setting to help properly prepare our young football players for the next level.  In doing so, CPW provided an environment similar to what both collegiate football coaches and professional football staffs believe in to be extremely important testing events to determine the potential effectiveness of a football player.  The combines include timing athletes in the 40-yard sprint, measuring their vertical leap and long jump, timing them in the 20-yard shuttle, as well as position skill set testing, and flag football tournaments.  The idea is to create a setting that is conducive for optimum athletic performance.

Speed Camps

There are many different ways to improve an athlete’s overall speed and agility; however, the tactics utilized can quickly become a conundrum when you begin to inquire the “how” from multiple sources.  As you approach different specialists in the field, you will generally receive a slightly different perspective.  While they all have their merit in contributing to making athletes faster; CPW would like to address the very rudimentary basics of getting faster and more agile, which are the foundation that many other techniques are built upon.  At our CPW Speed Camp we will expose all of benefits and keys to go to the next level in your individual speed gains.

Since 2009, CPW has provided Speed and Agility camps to Northern Virginia middle and high school Athletes which included a very detailed breakdown of what speed is and how to apply it personally.  CPW camps also include experienced and skilled trainers and specialists that continue to grow with the information in the ever-evolving speed, agility, and conditioning field.

Strength Clinics/Design

CPW Strength clinics are formed to assist every athlete in designing specific workouts to correctly challenge the total body.  CPW’s strength program is designed to SAFELY strengthen the athlete’s muscular system, with the intention of increasing performance while decreasing the risk of injury, during participation in the student-athlete’s particular sport.  This is a practice that should be followed at all levels of student-athlete training, even collegiately.

One of the main issues found with student-athletes at the high school and/or at the collegiate level is strength imbalance.  For example, it is normal to see student-athletes at the high school level focus on their bench press but not much more.  These student-athletes develop the musculature in their pectorals to a large degree; however, the problem arises when the same student-athletes have performed 1/10th of that amount of work developing the vast musculature of the upper back.  This creates a muscular imbalance that may take upwards of an entire semester to correct; which was unknowingly created by the student-athlete’s focus on certain exercises.  Furthermore, student-athletes often neglect other very important body parts, in particular the shoulder capsule.  This is significant in sports that involve throwing, catching, pressing, pulling, hitting, spiking, etc…as the shoulder is perhaps one of the most important parts on that student-athlete’s body.  These sports include some of the nation’s most popular sports such as baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, and football to name a few.

All of this and more will be discussed and further developed within CollegePrepWorld’s Strength Clinics and overall training.
